Why we built it
Product documentation is everywhere, and painful everywhere
Every manufacturer and B2B company ships product documentation, and almost all of them are made by hand in tools never meant for the job. A spec changes, and someone re-edits a PDF. A logo updates, and a hundred documents fall out of date. The result is slow, inconsistent, and expensive.
We think there’s a better way: capture the product as structured content, apply the brand automatically, and let the system produce a print-ready document. Update a product’s details once, and every linked document flags the change so you can apply it in a click. That’s the whole idea behind DataSheets Pro.
Who’s behind it
Built by someone who had the problem
I’m Justin Batzel, a Chicago native who has spent more than twenty years in web development and marketing for industrial B2B manufacturers.
For most of that time, product data sheets were somebody’s recurring problem, mine included. Eventually I built a proof of concept for one of our marketing teams, to stop the retyping and the re-formatting and the checking of page breaks. It took data sheet production from about 15 hours a week to under one.
That number is why DataSheets Pro exists. The proof of concept worked because the problem was never really about design. It was about treating product information as structured content instead of something to lay out by hand, over and over. Once I saw what that did for one team, building it properly for everyone else doing the same work was the obvious next step.
