Tracked links for each recipient

Give each customer their own link to a shared document and see when that person opens it or downloads the PDF.

On Team and Enterprise, you can give each customer their own link to a shared document and see when that person opens it or downloads the PDF. It's useful for following up on a quote or a sample: you know the data sheet was read.

  1. Publish the document's link first, in Step 3: Review & Export → Share link.
  2. Under Tracked links, type who the link is for, for example "Acme – Jane".
  3. Click Create link, then Copy link and send it to that person.

Each tracked link shows the same published version as your main link. Update link, and automatic updates if you've turned them on, refresh every tracked link too.

Seeing who opened it

The list shows each link's views and PDF downloads over the last 90 days, and when it was last opened. A link nobody has opened yet says Not opened yet. Views through tracked links also count towards the document's totals on the Analytics page.

What the recipient sees

The page is the same as your main link, with one line at the top: it's a personal link, and your company can see when it's opened and when the PDF is downloaded. Your company name comes from the brand kit on the published document; without one, the line says "The company that sent it".

That notice is required when you track an identifiable person, and it keeps things straightforward with your customers.

Click Revoke… next to a link, then Revoke. That link stops working straight away; your main link and everyone else's keep working. Revoked links move to a Revoked list with their past activity.

Plans

  • Tracked links are included on Team and Enterprise, up to 200 per document.
  • If your plan changes, links you've already made keep working and you can still see and revoke them, but you can't create new ones.
  • Reset link on the main link doesn't affect tracked links: each has its own address. Revoke any you no longer want.
