Adding, reordering, duplicating and deleting content
The mechanics of Step 2: add sections and blocks, drag to reorder, duplicate, hide, collapse and delete.
All of these controls live in Step 2: Build the Document. Nothing here is permanent, so you can rearrange freely, and the preview keeps up.
Adding a section
Click + Add Section at the bottom of the sections list. Give it a name (for your own navigation) and start adding blocks.
Adding a block
- Inside a section, click + Block.
- In the "Add a block" window, browse the eight groups and pick a block. Each card shows what the block does.
- The block is added to that section, ready to edit.
Reordering
Drag the grip handle (⠿) to move things. Because only the handle is draggable, you can still click into fields without accidentally moving them.
- Drag a block within its section, or into a different section.
- Drag a section to reorder whole groups.
Side-by-side layouts with the Column layout block
Add a Column layout block (in the Layout group) when you want blocks side by side: a spec table next to an image, two feature lists, three proof points across the page. Open the block and choose 2, 3 or 4 columns, then use + Block inside a column, or drag an existing block into it. The columns are equal width and move together as one unit. When a column layout runs past the bottom of a page, it continues on the next page: each column keeps what fits and carries the rest over, with tables and lists inside a column splitting at a row and repeating their header, just like they do outside a column layout.
Duplicating, hiding and deleting
- Duplicate a block with the duplicate icon (⧉), handy for repeating a similar table or list.
- Hide a block with the eye icon to keep it in the editor but leave it out of the preview and export. Click again to show it.
- Delete a block or section with the trash icon. Deleting a section removes the blocks inside it.
Collapsing to focus
Long documents get easier to navigate when you collapse sections you're not working on. Use the chevron on a section or block, or Expand all / Collapse all at the top of the sections list.
